Secondary School. EIIN - 108759
The secondary school, Gerda Madhyamik Biddyalay was founded in 1969 by concerned residents of the village. A few years ago the name of the school was changed to Gerda A F Mujibur Rahman Madhyamik Biddyalay in honour of the village’s most distinguished son, the late A F Mujibur Rahman, mathematician and ICS, who passed away in 1945 at the age of 48 while awaiting a move to the Calcutta High Court. It is a non-government school with 10 teachers whose pay is covered by ‘monthly pay orders’ from the Ministry of Education and is heavily subsidised and supported by the NBR-registered educational charity, A F Mujibur Rahman Foundation, settled by his son, Rezaur Rahman FCA, founder-partner of Rahman Rahman Huq, the oldest firm of chartered accountants in Bangladesh. The school has over 450 students and has posted excellent results in the SSC examinations over successive years.
