Mai Sahiba R.A is the mother of Sultan-ul-Mashaikh, Mehboob-e-Ilahi, Hazrat Shaikh Khwaja Syed Muhammad Nizamuddin Auliya R.A (1238 � 3 April 1325) also known as Hazrat Nizamuddin and is the sister of Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishty (R.A.) popularly known as Khwaja Gharib Nawaz (R.A.), of Ajmer.
According to Archeological Survey of India (ASI), the shrine of Mai Sahiba R.A; in Delhi is perhaps one of the oldest Dargahs to be built in Delhi and most distinct as it allows women folk to visit and pray right inside the tomb. It is often said, that Mannat or seeking a wish (from this Dargah) does not go unanswered especially on a Wednesdays. Every Wednesday, devotees from Delhi and neighboring states, congregate to offer prayers, seek blessings and place a secret wish.
Hazrat Nizamuddin R.A, was a renowned Sufi saint of the Chisti order, that believed in drawing close to Almighty through renunciation of the world and the service to humanity. Nizamuddin Auliya, like his predecessors, stressed love as a means of realising God. For him his love of God implied a love of humanity. His vision of the world was marked by a highly evolved sense of secularity and kindness.
Legend has it, that Hazrat Nizammuddin was very close to his mother � Bibi Zulekha (Mai Sahiba R.A). A widow and a pious women, of great thinking and strong will, Bibi Zulekha inculcated teachings of high moral and gratitude during difficult times, Hazrat Nizammudin R. A would share his problems and seek guidance from his mother. The mother would quietly smile and soon problems would subside.
After Maisahibas passing away, Hazrat would travel to Adchini, on 29th every month to seek blessings and guidance. The tradition of prayers on Wednesday continues even today.
